Weingart Foundation Emergency Department (ED)

Emergency RoomAt a time when many emergency rooms are closing, Saint John’s has opened a highly modernized Weingart Foundation Emergency Department (ED). Designed with input from local paramedics, the new ED provides the fastest access at the point where timing of care is most critical. The easily accessible main entrance to the ED is now off Arizona Street and stands in marked contrast to the former, quickly congested entrance off busy Santa Monica Boulevard.

he ED is designed to accommodate up to seven ambulances and paramedic trucks simultaneously. It has 14 exam rooms, plus a Fast Track with another 10 exam rooms for urgent care patients. The ED is adjacent to the Mrs. Henry E. Singleton Imaging Center, so patients needing X-rays only have to be transported a few feet.  The imaging center is equipped with a 64-slice CT and 3.0 Tesla MRI – the most precise and advanced equipment in the community.

  • The New Saint John’s is designed to provide the fastest, most efficient way to deliver clinically advanced life-saving medical care to patients. From the state-of-the art, earthquake-absorbing base isolators upon which the hospital is built to the peak of its light-filled, four-story atrium, the New Saint John’s creates an inspired environment where clinical and compassionate expertise meet every day.
