New technology lighting systems help reduce energy consumption 50 percent. With all the sunlight pouring into the expansive atrium, leading-edge cooling technology uses the building’s water flow to reduce heat. The entire building is comfortable on warmer days.
The new campus is designed to operate twice as energy efficient as the community standard. Saint John’s uses a natural gas-powered turbine with steam and heat byproducts to cogenerate up to 95 percent of its energy.
The New Saint John’s heating and cooling computer system uses weather projections to control the temperature in buildings. Special reflective coatings on windows for UV protection make temperature control even more efficient.
